Asheville artist Margee Halsch produces colorful, energetic acrylic
on canvas paintings and hand-painted silk garments using steam
set dyes.
She learned from a variety of respected elders in a few major cities
and studied under Diane Tuckman a French artist who originally
brought silk painting to America. Her silk scarves and vests are
being worn all around the world, from Ireland to Israel.
Margee’s paintings are free flowing movements, a dance with
nature. My “Margo Couture” silk accessories include scarves,
tunics, ponchos and vests to brighten the style of all who wear
them. Margee enjoys working with a variety of mediums, acrylic,
silk and/or wire; they provide abundant opportunities for
expression.
Margee creates from reference photos and her imagination in
equal measure. “The creative mind plays with the objects it loves.”
– Carl Jung
Many of her paintings were chosen for juried exhibits in Atlanta,
Austin, and Charlotte. Her works are displayed in homes,
institutions, and commercial buildings, formerly including an
Interior Design Society (IDS) show house.
As an avid walker, bicyclist and gardener Margee is inspired by
nature. She combines a mixture of colors you may not see
together in nature, yet they exist in nature.
